Was so tired when I got home I was tempted to go out for chips - but very glad I didn't. 

An excellent breakfast

A very good breakfast indeed. Still at the hotel. Fried potatoes, non-dry black pudding, superb sausage, thick bacon, soft scrambled eggs and non-greasy mushrooms. 

Random hotel food

A night away with work, so dinner in a random Welsh hotel

After determinedly battling our way into an empty dining room, the food was good. Started with an amuse bouche involving salmon mousse.

And was followed by a fillet steak with an odd range of accessories. Prize to whoever can guess what they all are! Steak was actually the least interesting bit of the plate, and unfortunately not rare.

Enough beef left over for a beef, blue cheese, salad and plum chutney sandwich. 

A weekend away - Friday night dinner

Away for the weekend, to visit friends. Friday night was a feast. A superb rib roast of beef, with all the trimmings. Beef was from a local farm - Lovaton (see links) and some of the best I've had.



Excellently rare beef with roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, broccoli, carrots, creamed leeks and gravy.

And a well balanced cheeseboard to finish.

Tuesday night dinner

Pasta with a tomato, goat's cheese and spinach sauce. Very tasty.
