Burger for tea

Burger, if anything, was better than the previous night's steak. Nice and juicy, and served with bacon and cheese. Posted by Picasa

Steak in Scotland

A good steak in a Glasgow hotel. A tasty rib-eye, with a good selection of trimmings. Posted by Picasa

Dinner for one

Wine

With soup

The soup was homemade leek and potato, with some of the chicken stock from yesterday's chickens. The wine was bought on a whim on the way home, and is marvellous (89 from Parker), although young. Posted by Picasa

Saturday night dinner with the lads

Toad in the hole

With mashed potato and spinach.

Good - smooth mash, tasty sausages and lots of batter with a nice onion gravy. Almost too much to eat, but somehow we managed. Posted by Picasa

Saturday lunch

Mushroom soup with some great olive bread from the market, nice olive oil and cheese Posted by Picasa

Wednesday dinner

Rump steak, spinach and goose-fat-fried potatoes with bearnaise sauce. Seems odd to me that it's cheaper to buy good steak than average chicken in the local Sainsbury's, but I'm not complaining. Posted by Picasa

Tuesday dinner

Tasty breakfast

Sausages, toast and mustard. If you time it right, you can set the sausages cooking before you start a shower, and have them ready by the time you're dressed. Posted by Picasa

Duck for Saturday dinner

Duck breasts marinading in olive oil

Pan frying oranges
Potato rosti with roast duck breast, broccoli and oranges, in an orange and redcurrent sauce. About the fussiest dish i do, in terms of on-plate presentation, but nonetheless very tasty. Posted by Picasa

Veg Box

Apples, bananas, squash, broccoli, onions, potatoes, pak choi Posted by Picasa

A hasty midweek steak

A rushed Wednesday dinner, but a steak picked up from the local garage and some leftover spinach leaves was quick enough to prepare and eat in 10 minutes! Posted by Picasa

Saturday lunch

Using the beetroots from this week's box in a slightly over the top salad. Beetroot with goats cheese, green beans, spinach, red onion and pine nuts, in a caper and red wine vinegar dressing. Posted by Picasa

Pork belly

Cooking pork belly with a chinese rub. Preparing the rub with sugar, salt, five-spice, sichuan pepper and black peppercorns

I removed the bones, added the mixed spices and left for the day

Before roasting very slowly

Cubed, and served with steamed rice, and pac choi in an oyster sauce. Very tasty, and well worth the effort. Posted by Picasa

Holiday food

Holiday breakfast - granola, oats, yoghurt, stewed figs

Buffet style lunch - chicken, rice, pasta, potatoes, token green salad

Lunch out - lobster and chips with rum punch

Food in Antigua was great, but good to get back to the UK - got a little bored of chicken and rice after a fortnight! Posted by Picasa
