Saturday supper

Started with a salad of cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, red onion and basil

Followed by ossobucco (veal shin) with saffron risotto

And finished with brioche pain perdu and a blackcurrent and blueberry compote

It was an impromptu starter after all the things I was trying to buy were unavailable, and that which I thought I had in had gone off.

So I have to agree with you, but nonetheless it worked well.

was the risotto on top of the ossobuco overkill? It looks like it might have been very (too?) rich.

Ossobuco was a little rich, but not too bad. Good warming stuff for a cold winter's day. Probably a better lunch dish, in many ways.
