on reflection, think the fennel was a bit too furry. Next time would chop up the furry bits like dill and make the root bit more prominent. Still, goes well with vermouth and pork. Nicer with rice, too i think.

Agreed. The fennel bulb was fantastic, but a bit overwhelmed by the fur. And I agree with you on the rice, although I'd have done more of a pilau.
