Started with an amuse bouche of a carrot and parsnip soup
in discussion the next day, Jay Raynor thought it 'a little overwrought', and I can see what he meant with the lemon caviar accompaniment, but it was very tasty

were you dining at the same time as jay raynor??
Yes - he was at a nearby table. The next day I was at an event with him at the Hay festival, and asked him what he thought of the food at question time. Somewhat embarrassingly, the proprietor was also there.
