Carluccio's for dinner with old and new friends

Olives and bread to start. I loved the food in France, but I did miss the near-perpetual stream of olives I seem to be living on these days.

Calamari for a starter. Not a good choice - a bit rubbery.

But redeemed by a great main course - a spicy sausage penne. Quite hot and spicy, very warming, and just what was needed on a distinctly autumnal night in September.

Affogato to finish with. Vanilla ice cream with very thick hot chocolate to pour over.
