Toasted sesame seed buns, onion and mushroom burgers, cheddar, gherkins, tomatoes, lettuce and garlic mayonnaise

A single bone-in rib of beef, being seared before being quickly oven cooked

A homemade bearnaise, with tarragon, egg yolks, vinegar and butter

Served with goose fat fried potatoes, roasted mushrooms and a nice glass of merlot

Barbecue time

The first barbecue of the year - a butterflied leg of lamb, with rosemary and garlic

Half an hour or so over hot coals

Nice and pink!

A very traditional roast chicken, with sausages in bacon, creamed leeks, sprouting brocolli and roast potatoes

Refining the dish

Still working on the lamb dish from last week

This week's aubergine stew was a tad more spicy, and with less tomatoes

And the lamb was replaced with a boned out leg of mutton - really excellent flavour, and cut nice and thin to stay tender

Weekend curry

An easy lamb curry for a Thursday night

Started with onions, coriander stalks, ginger, bay leaves and chilli

Added some diced lamb, tomatoes, lentils, rogan josh paste and chicken stock

Simmered for an hour or so until the lamb was tender

Served with steamed rice, yoghurt and coriander
