Dinner at "Black and Blue"

Olives

Burger and chips

Poor. The olives were ok, and the burger was ok, but the chips were poor. Not a bad meal, but by no means worth £50 for dinner for two. Posted by Picasa

Raclette for lunch

From a stall at Borough market - it was great - raclette cheese with cornichons, potatoes and lots of salt and pepper Posted by Picasa

Baltic for a birthday dinner

Pierogi - little cheesy potato dumplings. Nice, but not very strongly flavoured.

A very good well seasoned steak

All by candlelight

Baltic's great - tasty food, interesting cocktails and entertainingly random service Posted by Picasa

My Birthday

A great cake. Made of chocolate, not caterpillars. Posted by Picasa

Pizza

Mushroom and marscapone pizza. From Waitrose, so not cheap, but genuinely the best pizza I have had outside of a pizzeria. Stunning. Posted by Picasa

Chinese food

Egg fried rice, beef in black bean sauce, chicken in cashews and water chestnuts, stir fried mushrooms and beansprouts. With champagne. Posted by Picasa

Friday lunch

Out to the pub - good burger with baccon and cheese. Refreshingly, the cheese was giant lumps of cheddar, which didn't really melt, but you could eat them as a tasty snack. Posted by Picasa

Filled pasta on Monday night. Very nice, but the packaging seemed a little on the extreme side, Posted by Picasa

More game

Pheasant from the butchers

Reducing the wine, celery and pancetta it had cooked in

Pot roast pheasant with purple sprouting broccoli, roast potatoes, bread sauce, sausages and gravy Posted by Picasa

Completed dinner

Tasty Californian cabernet sauvignon

Went well with the very rich venison, dauphinoise potatoes and spinach

Venison is meant to be very healthy, but given all the recipes seem to coat it in a rich creamy sauce not convinced this was as healthy a meal as some would say. Posted by Picasa

Venison for tea

I'd never cooked it before, so gave venison a try

Cooked it with a creamy wild mushroom sauce and spinach

Sizzling away. Smelt disconcertingly agricultural while cooking. Posted by Picasa
