Two burgers

Thursday night. A hotel / meeting centre far away. Ordered a burger and got, possibly, the worst meal of the year. Genuinely struggling to work out how you'd make a burger this bad. In a sort of 'cargo cult' style it was like someone had seen a burger in a book once, and attempted to replicate it.

So decided to make my own this evening (Friday)

Not perfect
But nonetheless very tasty. Burger with lettuce, mustard, mayonnaise, blue cheese, toasted bun

At least 10 times as good for about a tenth of the cost 

Vietnamese beef salad

Making the salad - lime juice, lime zest, chilli, sugar, fish sauce, sweet chilli sauce, mint leaves, coriander leaves, watercress, carrot, cucumber, sirloin steak, tomatoes

Very tasty, and well worth the excessive length of the list of ingredients 

Honey mangos

Honey mangos from the Asian food store. Looked beautiful, but, sadly, tasted horrible. 

Picnic Sunday lunch

Shown - ciabatta, tomato and onion bread, chilli dipping oil, sprouting beans, pitted olives, salmon pate, goats cheese, crisps

Had much the same as before, but also some great grilled prawns 

Saturday lunch

Roquefort, lincolnshire poacher, verulamium goats' cheese, tomatoes, seeded loaf 

Saturday dinner

Starter - plate of very thinly sliced milan salami, with crushed new potatoes in rosemary and olive oil

Main course, a rice pilaf with tomatoes and some harissa-marinaded roast lamb fillet
